Jobs in the medical field are in high demand across the country, but it’s not just doctors that are needed. A healthy medical practice requires people like nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants (PAs) to provide the best care to as many people as possible. According to recent reports, there has been a steady increase in graduating NPs and PAs ready to enter the workforce.
According to the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, there has been significant growth in graduation figures for nurse practitioners. From 2003 to 2014, the number of graduates increased from 6,611 to 18,484, an increase of 180%. That number continued to grow from 2014 to 2015 by 15.3%. The number of newly certified physician assistants also grew significantly from 2003 to 2014, from 4,337 to 7,578, according to the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. That is an increase of 74.7%.
